National Infertility Awareness

🧡 You Are Not Alone 🧡

1 in 8 couples are affected by infertility.…this could be your sister, cousin, friend, neighbor or coworker. Every couple’s path to parenthood is different and for many, it can be a long and difficult journey. It can be isolating, scary, confusing, stressful and heartbreaking.

Infertility affects 10%-15% of couples, making it one of the most common diseases for people between the ages of 20 and 45. Infertility is defined as not being able to conceive after one year (or more) of trying to become pregnant. For women 35 and older, the inability to conceive after 6 months is generally considered infertility.

Infertility is a medical diagnosis, and no one is to blame for infertility any more than anyone is to blame for depression or leukemia. It is not just a women’s issue, nearly 50% of the time there are male factors. Much of the time fertility is caused by a combination of problems in both partners and approximately 10%, there may not be an obvious reason and it is considered unexplained infertility.

National Infertility Awareness Week®, is a movement, founded in 1989 by Resolve. This week is dedicated to those who have been affected by infertility. National Infertility Awareness Week’s goal is to bring awareness to infertility, empower those affected and change the conversation around infertility.

Here are 5 ways you can participate in NIAW (and all year long!) to help change the conversation:

🧡 Wear the color orange.
🧡 Post a fact about infertility or family building options.
🧡 Send messages of support to friends and family members struggling to build a family. A bit of encouragement can go a long way!
🧡 Share your story. Your story is important to the mission of spreading awareness during NIAW.
🧡 Download official NIAW Social Media Images and post images to help others learn more about changing the conversation

This week can be heavy, remember this week is meant for you whether you choose to participate or not, you matter and your story matters. Everyone’s journey is different

We all can change the narrative and bring awareness to infertility and how it is a different journey for everyone.

We’re honored to educate, support and empower women through their fertility journey. If you are experiencing fertility challenges, please reach out, we’d love to support you.
