Neurostructural Integration Technique

Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) is a gentle yet effective soft tissue release technique. It promotes deep relaxation and releases muscle tension. NST is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy and a holistic approach to wellbeing. This bodywork technique initiates a process of natural auto regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body. The resultant effect of this is comprehensive reorganization of the musculature of the body characterized by a lasting relief from pain and dysfunction, an increase in energy, and an unmistakable sense of wellbeing.

NST treats the whole body and addresses every major muscle and joint system as well as affects organic, endocrine and autonomic nervous function. The benefits of NST are not limited to the presenting physical condition but extend to the emotional, cognitive and spiritual levels of healing. Substantial relief is frequently attained after the first session and generally only a few sessions are needed to resolve all but the most serious complaints. Major shifts and changes often occur after the second or third session. Certain chronic or degenerative conditions may benefit from further or ongoing attention.

An NST treatment consists of a series of precise moves on specific areas of the body. The moves are a gentle cross-fiber maneuvering of muscle, tendon, ligament or nerves using primarily the thumbs and fingers. Gentle manipulation is applied to the lower and upper back, abdomen, neck, arms and legs, using varying pressure and incorporating resting periods to allow the body to respond and benefit from each series of “moves”. NST sessions generally last from 45 minutes to 1 hour. NST is safe and effective for all ages from newborn to the elderly.
