Relax with Yin Tang

Located between the eyebrows, in an area that some refer to as the "third eye", Yin Tang is a familiar point to many of those who have had acupuncture. Because it calms the mind, eases anxiety, and allows for deep relaxation, Yin Tang also happens to be the most requested acupuncture point by patients!

This powerful point regulates the pineal gland, which is responsible for the secretion of melatonin. Darkness triggers the release of melatonin, which can induce lethargy, sleepiness, and withdrawal. Activating this point with acupuncture can help alleviate these symptoms that are often instigated by the dark winter days and are associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Bonus: Did you know the name "pineal gland" comes from the root word 'pinea', Latin for 'pinecone'? And that's just what the pineal gland looks like- a tiny pinecone!
