Winter Allergy Prep

Although we are still in the heart of Winter, it is the perfect time to start preparing for Spring allergies. Start your game plan to ease allergy season NOW; don’t wait until you’re already in the worst of it. We’re here to help!

Here are some of our favorite things for allergy prevention prep:

1. Quercetin + Bromelain - This antihistamine and anti-inflammatory power duo will be your best friend during allergy season. Quercetin, a bioflavonoid, reduces histamines, which launch allergic reactions, released from your immune cells. Bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple, diminishes swelling of your nasal passages and thins mucus, making it easier for you to breathe as well as enhancing absorption of Quercetin.

2. Vitamin C - Another great anti-histamine, vitamin C gives your immune system a powerful boost and helps your body detoxify.

3. Niaouli Essential Oil - This melaleuca oil, related to Tea Tree (which is a better choice for children), decreases antihistamines that cause allergic symptoms. However, you want to use it in the weeks or months BEFORE allergy season, not during an acute attack, as it could actually worsen the histamine response then. To use Niaouli before allergy season, smell it several times a day, diffuse it, combine it with Epsom salts for a bath, or dilute it and rub it over your chest daily.

4. Essential Oil Blends for Use During Allergy Season - Schedule a treatment to get a custom-made blend or put together your own. We create blends for patients based on their individual symptoms and presentations.

5. Acupuncture - From itchy eyes to asthma, acupuncture can help! Acupuncture decreases pain and inflammation, supports the immune system, and regulates the body's histamine response to its various offenders.

6. Herbal Formulas - In addition to acupuncture, we offer custom-made herbal formulas and essential oil blends to enhance the effects of your treatment and to provide as-needed relief from your sniffles and sneezes.
