Expressing Gratitude

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, let’s take a moment to discuss gratitude.

When we feel grateful, we can’t help but feel more peaceful and satisfied in life. Studies have shown that people who live with a sense of gratitude tend to be happier, form healthier relationships, and maintain better mental and physical health overall. Showing gratitude helps us feel more positive emotions, cope with stress, relish good experiences, sleep better, enhance empathy, deal with adversity and build stronger relationships - to name a few!

Writing in a gratitude journal is one of our favorite tools to keep track of all the reasons to be thankful.

Here’s how to get started:
→ Choose a notebook that makes you happy.
→ Write in your journal at the same time every day, this helps make it a habit!
→ Pick a number of moments of gratitude that you will write about each day. 3-5 is a good place to start.
→ Don’t expect to remember everything - take note of moments of gratitude throughout your day.
→ Write about anything that you are grateful for or that made you happy that day: a great sunset, a loved one’s smile, the affection of a pet, or the every day things that you take for granted

*Bonus: Once a week choose one instance of gratitude to expand on, describing the moment and what it means to you in greater detail.
